Tech Central
Tech Central is a newly designated tech and innovation district in Sydney. A collaborative effort between government and tech and education partners, the district brings together six neighbourhoods. These are home to some of Australia’s most exciting startups, world-class universities, research institutes and unicorns such as Atlassian and Canva. The district is positioned at the intersection of culture, arts, tech and education, with goals to attract 25,000 students, support scale-up companies, create 25,000 jobs, and provide 250,000sqm office space. The brand would unite this diverse area and signal the underlying tech/innovation side of Sydney locally and internationally.
Tech Central is right in Sydney’s cultural heart. The identity relies on a custom variable typeface, inspired by the city’s streets and blocks to create visual recognition. A C/T monogram, puts technology at the centre of culture. The design system leans into typography to provide a visual voice for the many stories and developments that are told through the Tech Central district brand. The identity is open source, providing the multitude of partners and residents with free access to all assets. With a unified identity, we can communicate the incredible activities taking place in Tech Central.
